Today, the day and night stand equal. The autumn equinox marks the start of Libra Season, ruled by Venus, the plant of beauty, harmony and self-worth.
This is a good moment to ask what balance actually looks like for you right now?
I wanted to share a few of my favorite fall rituals with you. As always, take what resonates and leave the rest.
Many of you already know that I follow many Ayurvedic philosophies in my life and as a holistic Esthetician and so I wanted to talk about what Ayurveda says about Autumn.
In Ayurveda, each season has its own qualities, and health means moving with them, not against them. Early autumn is the handoff from Pitta (the heat of summer) to Vata (the qualities of fall and winter: cool, dry, light, windy).
You may already feel it. Skin gets tighter and drier. Sleep gets lighter. Your mind feels scattered. That's Vata rising, and the answer is the opposite of its qualities: warmth, moisture, routine, and grounding.
Seasonal Wellness Shifts
• Eat warm. Trade raw salads and iced drinks for soups, stews, roasted root vegetables, and warm spiced teas like ginger, cinnamon, and fennel. Healthy fats like ghee and olive oil nourish skin from the inside out.
• Anchor your day. Vata loves rhythm. Wake, eat, and sleep at consistent times if you can.
• Move gently. Choose steady, grounding movement like walking, yoga, and strength work over frantic intensity. This is a year round direction for me personally.
• Protect your sleep. Aim to be winding down by 10 pm, and keep evening light dim.
• Stay warm and hydrated. Sip warm water through the day, and keep your neck and feet covered as temperatures drop. Hello scarf season. If anything, the fashion alone makes this my favorite time of year. =)
Now for the really fun part....the beauty tips obviously!

Skincare Tips for the Vata Shift
1. Switch to richer textures. Move from light gels to creams and nourishing oils that support your barrier. By the way, all of my Sixth House oils are 50% off right now while I make room for our new formulas coming in October.
2. Cleanse gently. Avoid stripping cleansers. Milky or balm cleansers keep moisture in.
3. Layer hydration. Apply humectants to damp skin, then seal with oil or cream. A go-to of mine is the Prebiotic Barrier Repair (also on sale). I can't wait for you to experience the new, super charged version. A classic rose water mist is also great.
4. Exfoliate thoughtfully. Gentle and less often. Summer's sun-thickened skin needs renewal, but over-exfoliating in a drying season invites irritation. If you have Cosmic Peel (currently sold out), add a few drops to a wet cotton round and apply it all over or on a specific area such as your forehead.
5. Try Abhyanga. An Ayurvedic self-massage with warm oil (sesame is the classic for Vata but Jojoba works too) it calms the nervous system, softens the skin, and grounds the body. Add a few drops of Frankincense (optional but it's my fave for grounding).
6. Don't retire your SPF. Remember to wear your sunscreen year round.

An Equinox & Libra Season Ritual (you can do this ritual tonight or any night this week)
Libra teaches that balance isn't a fixed point. It's a practice. Here is a simple ritual for the evening of the equinox, if you care to join me.
You'll need: a candle, a journal, warm facial or body oil, and a mirror.
1. Set the space. Light the candle. Dim the lights. Put your phone away.
2. Write two lists: what I'm releasing (habits, obligations, or summer's leftover urgency) and what I'm inviting in (rest, pleasure, connection).
3. Anoint. Warm a few drops of oil between your palms. Massage it slowly into your face, neck, hands, and feet. As you do, name one thing you're grateful for with each area.
4. Meet your reflection. Look into the mirror for a full minute. Venus rules Libra, so this is a moment to honor yourself, not to inspect yourself.
5. Close. Read your "inviting in" list aloud, then blow out the candle.

A Closing Thought:
Seasons don't ask us to hold on, only to adjust. Nothing here is about fixing yourself. It's about living in rhythm with the world around you, and letting your skin reflect it.
Will you give any of these rituals a try? If you do, let me know. Tag me @jenniefresabeauty or @sixth_house_studio
Happy Fall Season!
